Your record is yours

Last updated 17 October 2026

Sumire keeps a record of your work so it's there when you need it. Here is what it keeps, why, who helps run it, and how to have it deleted.

Read this first

Sumire is in private beta. It's built and run by one person, and it isn't being sold: if you ever see a price, no payment is taken and no card details are collected. You're trying it at an early stage, so please keep that in mind before you share anything.

Who we are

Sumire isn't a registered company yet. The person responsible for your data (the data controller) is Luis Osorio, based in France.

Write to hello@trysumire.com about anything on this page. Every message reaches the person who built Sumire.

If you join the waitlist

We keep your email address, where you found us (for example, a link you followed) and the type of browser you used. We use it for one thing: to send your invite. We don't add you to a newsletter or share it with anyone. Ask, and we'll remove it.

What Sumire keeps when you use it

  • Your account: your name, email address and WhatsApp number.
  • What you tell Sumire: the messages you send on WhatsApp. Voice notes are turned into text, and Sumire doesn't keep the audio.
  • Your record, built from those messages: your stories, the skills they show, your goals and their dates, and the people you mention (their name, their role, how you work together, and, only if you've said so, whether they know about a story).
  • What the app needs to work: for example which questions you've opened, and your petals.

Sumire only records what you tell it. It doesn't guess, and it doesn't look things up about you or anyone else.

What it's used for

One purpose: to keep your own career record and help you use it, from preparing for a review to spotting what's behind your best work. Your record is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with your employer.

An AI model reads your updates

This is the part worth being clear about. What you send, including what you say about your work, your colleagues and your employer, is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI models to turn it into stories, skills and the rest of your record. Voice notes are sent to Google's Gemini AI to be turned into text. Google also helps Sumire recognise when two skills are the same; for that, it only receives the skill's name. That's how Sumire works; there's no version of it that doesn't do this.

Sumire uses both providers' paid business services, under which neither Anthropic nor Google uses what Sumire sends them to train their AI models. Sumire also checks the AI's output in code so your record only contains what you said: no invented numbers, names or claims.

Please don't send confidential or commercially sensitive information, or anything covered by an agreement with your employer. Sumire is for your own record of your own work.

About the people you mention

Your stories naturally include colleagues, managers and clients. Please keep to what's useful for your record (who they are and the part they played) and leave out anything sensitive about them, such as health or personal matters. You can remove anyone from your record at any time in the app.

Our legal basis

We process your data on the basis of your consent: when you join the waitlist and when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to us, and we'll delete everything. Withdrawing doesn't affect what we did lawfully before.

Who helps run Sumire, and where

  • MetaDelivers your WhatsApp messages and voice notes. WhatsApp keeps its own copy on its servers for a limited time.
  • AnthropicThe Claude AI models that read your updates. United States.
  • GoogleGemini turns voice notes into text and compares skill names. United States.
  • SupabaseStores your account and record. European Union (Ireland).
  • RailwayRuns Sumire's servers. European Union (Netherlands).
  • ResendSends account emails, such as the confirmation when you delete your account. United States.
  • NetlifyHosts this website. United States.

Your record is stored and processed in the EU. Anthropic, Google, Meta, Resend and Netlify are based in the United States, so some of your data is transferred outside the EU while they do their part. We rely on the safeguards those providers offer for such transfers, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Your record is kept for as long as your account is active. Waitlist emails are kept until you're invited or ask us to remove yours.

The beta will end. When it does, we'll delete everyone's data within 30 days, unless you tell us you want to keep your account. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we'll do it within 30 days.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Your record is only reachable through your own account. We keep our logs free of email addresses and IP addresses. When you join the waitlist, your IP address is used for a moment to stop repeated sign-ups, and Sumire doesn't store it; our hosting provider's own network logs may record it.

Your rights

You can delete your account at any time in the app (open your account, then "Your data and privacy", then "Delete my account"). That deletes your record straight away, and we email you a confirmation.

You can also ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time, ask for a copy of it, object to how we use it, or ask us to limit that use. Write to hello@trysumire.com and we'll reply within 30 days.

If you're in the EU or UK, these are your rights under the GDPR, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

Changes

If we change how we handle your data in a meaningful way, we'll tell you by email before it happens.
